A Message from Dan

Dear Friends:

Thank you for the opportunity to serve during the past four terms as a member of the Vancouver City Council.  When I first ran for this position, I promised to ask the tough questions and to seek common sense solutions on the critical issues facing Vancouver.  I have sought your advice and opinions, and I believe my actions on the council are a reflection of your views on how to make Vancouver a better place to live.

This year I am again asking for your support because I want to continue working on issues important to you, including:

  • Managing growth and improving community protection

As our community grows and as the city continues its annexation efforts, I want to ensure that our citizens receive high-quality police, fire, and other important city services.

  • Increasing government accountability

I will continue to be a strong advocate for taxpayers by knowing how our tax money is spent and looking for ways to make city government more efficient.

  • Protecting and preserving our neighborhoods and community spirit

Vancouver’s greatest assets are our diverse and livable neighborhoods and the people of our community. Maintaining our playgrounds, promoting community based programs for children and seniors, supporting community policing and protecting open space will always be part of my agenda.

  • Creating jobs

The waterfront restoration and downtown revitalization are great examples of how government and the private sector can work together to create business opportunities.  The result is good jobs and economic prosperity for our community.

If you have any questions or ideas, please call me at (360) 694-3855 or e-mail me at . Thank you again for the opportunity to serve you on the Vancouver City Council.

Sincerely,

Dan Tonkovich
